Tormod heads for two busy weekends in Skien and Stavanger as a guest soloist and adjudicator. Tormod visits Grenland International Brass Festival this weekend as an adjudicator at the two-day contest. At the gala concert Saturday night he will perform as a guest soloist with the Leyland Band and conductor Jason Katsikaris. Tormod and Leyland recorded the highly successful disc From the Deep last September, which has been met with an overwhelming reception. British Bandsman stated that ”..the disc captures one of our brightest stars at his best so far.” Brass Band World magazine added ”He is one of the most complete euphonium soloists around – musically intelligent with an enviable technical fluency.”
Tormod comments: ”It is a pleasure to promote my new disc together with the Leyland Band at Grenland. The band was exceptionally professional and positive during the recording session and did a great job for me. I am looking forward to playing two of the most popular new pieces from the CD”.
Tormod and Leyland will perform Song (in memoriam Bengt Eklund) and Two Folk Tunes from Valdres. Both from the creative pen of Frode Rydland and released on Tormod’s increasingly popular Fundamental Music.
At the European Brass Band Championships in Stavanger Tormod will perform as a soloist with the European Youth Brass Band conducted by Reid Gilje on two different concerts. The incredible Two Folk Tunes from Valdres will be presented on both occasions, amongst other items. On Wednesday April 30th the EYBB and Tormod can be seen at Sandnes Kulturhus. At the European Farewell Concert at Atlantic Hall on Sunday May 4th Tormod will be joined by Roger Webster for the classic Salvation Army duet I’ll not turn back.
Tormod’s solo appearances are kindly supported by Besson.
