The world’s leading clarinet manufacturer, Buffet Crampon acquired the two famous brass instrument brands Antoine Courtois Paris and Besson in early 2006. Buffet Crampon spent several months in developing the new Prestige euphonium before it was released on the market in the autumn of 2006. The public response to new instruments has been enormous. More about the new range of Besson euphoniums on Steven Mead’s website euphonium.net.
Tormod signed to become an artist and clinician for Besson Musical Instruments in 2002. In the middle of May 2007 Tormod visited the Buffet Crampon headquarters in Mantes La Ville, France to renew his partnership with the new owners of Besson.
Werner Duwé, Brass Product Manager at Buffet Crampon commented:
“We are pleased to inform you that a partnership has been achieved between Tormod Flaten and Besson Group Buffet Crampon. We are particularly delighted to welcome Tormod, who has always been a wonderful and talented endorser of Besson’s brand.
Tormod Flaten is regarded as one of the finest representatives of the Scandinavian euphonium school.”
Tormod added:
“I received my new Besson Prestige euphonium in January. My first response when trying it was simply: ‘Wow!’ It felt similar to my old Prestige, just better. Better in every aspect of playing: Response, clarity of sound, valve action, intonation and ease of blowing. I’m really happy to have signed for the Buffet Crampon Group and I’m looking forward to working with them as an endorser for Besson euphoniums.”
