The world's most visited brass web site, 4barsrest.com, has nominated Norwegian Euphonium in the 'Solo CD of the Year' category for their 2006 Awards. Other nominees are euphonium icon Steve Mead, principal trombone of the Vienna Philharmonic Ian Bousfield and tuba soloist and conductor James Gourlay. A pretty strong field. Anyway, it's up to the readers to vote for their favourites, so read about the categories and go the voting form.
Tormod's brass band Eikanger-Bjørsvik is also well represented in the 'Band of the Year', 'CD/DVD of the Year' and 'Contest Performance of the Year' categories. Composer Ørjan Matre, who wrote the fabolous Hunting Low and High for Tormod, is nominated in the 'Test Piece of the Year' category for his Klang(!).
