Solveigs Vuggesang for Euphonium and Piano Edvard Grieg arranged by Tormod Flaten   Edvard Hagerup Grieg (1843-1907), Norway’s renowned national composer, should be known to everybody with the slightest knowledge of classical music. Grieg’s highly romantic and expressive writing, based mainly on Norwegian folk music, is widely recognised well beyond the Norwegian shores. Grieg set the music to Henrik Ibsen’s classic play Peer Gynt premiered in Christiania (Oslo) February 24th 1876. Solveigs Vuggesang (Solveig’s Lullaby) is the very last song of the play, sung by one of the main characters, Solveig. -Tormod Flaten
