Mit Hjerte og Min Lyra

for Euphonium and Piano

Halfdan Kjerulf

arranged by Tormod Flaten

Halfdan Kjerulf (1815-1868) was a Norwegian composer from the romantic era. He studied with Niels W. Gade in Copenhagen and Ernst Friedrich Richter in Leipzig. Kjerulf is best known for his production of choral works and songs with piano accompaniment. Mit Hjerte og Min Lyra (My Heart and Lute), opus 16,2 is set to words by Thomas Moore, and is perhaps his most famous romance. I believe the beautiful song suits the lyrical qualities of the euphonium particularly well.
